Result of Bihar Legislative Assembly Election 2025

Story By - NextGen Gpost 2025-11-17 Result of Bihar 2025, Bihar Election 244

Result of Bihar 2025, Bihar Election
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a comfortable win in 2 seats and was leading in 202 seats out of 243 seats in total as per the situation on 14 November 2025 in the evening (5:30 pm IST). The Commission stated that the Mahagathbandhan, mainly made up of Congress and RJD, was just 35 seats ahead.

BSP,  a single-handed party without being a part of any major alliance, was ahead by just one seat. AIMIM, one more independent party, had won or was ruling in five seats.

The BJP was made the largest party in the Bihar Assembly by the NDA's overreaching, resounding victory. The RJD-Congress alliance got a terrible defeat. NDA leaders expressed that the new government in Bihar would be formed very soon, within a couple of days. Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal was at Nitish Kumar's residence to wish him the best of luck and convey his good wishes as well.

Also, the Yadav family is facing another issue. Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter and RJD leader Rohini Acharya has given her resignation from politics.

Nitish Kumar’s Major Win and Reasons Behind It

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was re-elected against anti-incumbency sentiment, and the NDA led by him secured a very comfortable majority on November 14, 2025. The subsidised income for women - Mahila Rozgar Yojna, which was ₹10,000 given to each of the more than 1.25 crore women - seemed to be the main factor for his success.

NDA had 44% of the votes, and the Opposition INDIA bloc was at around 36% by Friday night. In terms of seats, the NDA had 202, whereas the Mahagathbandhan had only 35.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the victory and said that the NDA was overwhelmingly endorsed by women and youth.'

The concerted effort of the Congress, RJD, and Left parties resulted in a minimal number of seats won. Jan Suraaj Party was unable to open its account either.

Nitish Kumar: Bihar CM’s Journey, Age & Political Life

Nitish Kumar is a senior Indian Politician and the current Chief Minister of Bihar. He was born on 1 March 1951 in India. He is 74 years old now. Ram Lakhan Singh, his father, was an Ayurvedic Doctor and a courageous man who contributed to the Indian freedom struggle. His mother was Parmeshwari Devi. Nitish Kumar graduated with a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from Patna Engineering College (NIT Patna).

It was quite different in the 1970s when he was in politics. He was one of the prominent leaders of the JP Movement, the leadership of which was under Jayaprakash Narayan. He got elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly for the first time. He has managed to become the Chief Minister of Bihar several times: in 2000, from 2005 to 2014, and then from 2015 till now. Moreover, he is the leader of the Janata Dal (United) party.

Key Highlights

  • BJP workers in Uttarakhand rejoiced at the Bihar results. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that people of Bihar have rejected negativity by their vote and thus have trusted the NDA once again to govern them.
  • Jitendra Singh declared that the BJP is forever election-ready and continues working without breaks. He commented on the Nowgam blast by saying the inquiry is at work.

Recent Updates

‘We will not disappoint Bihar,’ says BJP leader

Shahnawaz Hussain, BJP leader, shared his belief that the NDA government will regain power very soon. Along with that, he affirmed that it won't be just service that the job creation and industrialisation in Bihar will be carried out.

‘We will push Bihar forward,’ says Ram Kripal Yadav

Ram Kripal Yadav, a leader of the BJP, made the chief point that once again the people of Bihar have shown their trust in Nitish Kumar. Then he went on to say that the NDA led by Nitish Kumar and PM Narendra Modi would be like a pair of oxen working together to haul the cart to the next level of Bihar.

Nitish Kumar to resign before forming a new government.

Nitish Kumar is going to leave office as Chief Minister today to mark the end of his current term formally. Next on the agenda, after the assembly is dissolved, will be the swearing-in ceremony of the new NDA government.

NDA’s plan for ministerial seats

The NDA partners have begun talking about the allocation of ministries. They could decide to give a ministry to each six MLAs. LJP (RV) may receive three ministry allocations, while RLM and HAM(S) may get one each. About 30–31 ministries will be divided between the BJP and JD(U). It is possible that the two Deputy CM posts will also be changed.

CPI(ML) demands a review of the results

CPI (ML) chief Dipankar Bhattacharya insisted on a thorough examination of the sudden overwhelming victory of the NDA. He attributed most of the blame to the following three factors:

  • Voter lists underwent a Special Intensive Revision.
  • Money was deposited in women’s accounts.
  • A big corporate deal happened during election time.

Moreover, Congress leader Tariq Anwar said that the ₹10,000 credited to women’s accounts was the factor that changed the outcome of the election.

Nitish Kumar resigns; BJP and JD(U) to share ministries equally.

The JD(U) MLAs are lined up to hold a meeting today, following which Nitish Kumar looks forward to resigning and a new government being formed. It is counted on that both the BJP and the JD(U), which opposed 101 seats each, will be allocated a nearly equal number of ministerial posts. LJP (RV) might be given 2 ministries; however, RLM and HAM(S) will probably be given one each.

Tejashwi Wins Big, While Tej Pratap Suffers Setbacks

In the 2025 Bihar elections, Raghopur was the place where Tejashwi Yadav scored a landslide victory and, hence, he became the leader of RJD again. Moreover, he extended his political ambition to the next level. On the other hand, the older brother of Tejashwi, Tej Pratap Yadav, was absolutely unfortunate in Mahua, and he only managed to secure the third position. A “moral victory” in his own words, he, however, pointed out the internal enemies of his former party by calling them “Jaichands” in a very scathing manner. He spoke well of the NDA’s cohesion and leadership under PM Modi and said that the people desire governance instead of a dynasty.
